What We Do

Plumbing issues that are underground aren’t quite as simple to assess as a clogged pipe or a leaky faucet. In order to find out just what’s going on underneath your property, we use a combination of industry-leading tools and time-tested knowledge to determine your issue and develop the right plumbing solution.

Read on to learn more about the different ways we diagnose plumbing issues at your property.

The first step in our diagnostic process is a video camera inspection. We use state-of-the-art infrared cameras to look more closely at your sewers or drains. This technology helps us to identify the locations of leaks, obstructions, breaks, and even deteriorated pipes. Once we’ve determined the location of your leak, we’ll investigate further with hydrostatic pressure testing.

This helps us understand if there are leaks present in your sanitary sewer system. First, we’ll insert an inflatable test ball into the mainline sewer, which we’ll then inflate to block it. We’ll follow that by filling the system with water up to the slab or foundation level, where we’ll observe it for up to 15 minutes. If the system doesn’t fill or the water begins to drop, that tells us there are leaks present in the sanitary sewer system.

We also use video cameras to perform static leak isolation testing. Like the hydrostatic pressure testing, this testing uses inflatable balls to isolate and pressure test different sections of your sanitary sewer system. By combining hydrostatic pressure with video inspection, we’re able to pinpoint the exact location of any leaks and create a map of your sewer system.

After narrowing down the general area of the leak, we’ll use electronic line tracing and listening equipment to detect the leak location. Electronic listening devices help us enhance our hearing and identify leaks within a freshwater system by amplifying the sound of water movement through the leaking line.

Our most refined process is slab leak detection. If we suspect that the leak is in the foundation or slab, we use electronic leak detection equipment, infrared video cameras, and pressure testing to determine the exact location. As soon as we’ve identified the location, cause, and extent of the leak, we’ll develop the most efficient noninvasive solution possible.
